![]() ![]() Remote cursor support - including smartzoom movement. Bonjour including auto connection to Bonjour hosts. Global/Specific hierarchical preferences. Reverse connections including automated Nat-PMP / UPnP port opening on routers. SmartZoom for viewing large remote desktops. Multiple connections, fullscreen, multi-monitor support. Did what the developer suggested and my problem was solved (set the remote host to screen sharing, turn off remote management). In addition to testing JollysFastVNC I also tried Chicken of the VNC 2.1.1. Local time for the developer was 23:30 hours. I emailed support and received a helpful reply three minutes latter. It connected to my host machine first time without having to mess with any preferences or router settings, I could see my host, but not control it. VNC encodings ZRLE, Tight, zlib, rre, hextile, raw, copyrect, resolution change, pixel format change, lastrect and some more. Before I praise the product, I have to praise the products support.I was having problems with the trial version of the software. The difference between home and pro editions is that the home will only store seven hosts, and is meant for non-commercial use. Is JollysFastVNC fast? I can't answer that as the Chicken was dead on arrival, and I have yet to compare it with LogMeIn, although LogMeIn has never felt fast in the past. After my short test I immediately purchased the Home edition that is available on the MacApp store for $10. I don't want to waste my time on something like that when JollysFastVNC connected first time, has a plethora of easily accessible settings that makes sense, and support that is there when you need it. I deleted the Chicken within 5 minutes of installing it. When I tried the Chicken with a machine on my LAN that I regularly access with built in Screen Sharing I got the same cryptic error. Then realized I didn't have Chicken of the Sea installed any longer. So I enabled Ubuntu's screen sharing (VNC). Adding a short tutorial or list of what settings to use in System Preferences on the remote machine would be very useful, as would a troubleshooting section for dealing with stubborn router settings.I needed a way to get to my Ubuntu 10.4LTS box at work. ![]() So it's an issue with Ubuntu's server. Much slower to display and no screen refresh on it either. My local pointer and the one on the remote screen moving as a pair, just slightly offset. So I tried cotvnc (Chicken of the VNC) 2.0b4. All I see movement-wise are the mouse pointers. Best Vnc Clients License To EnsureWhy is this bait and switch?.WTF! Do you honestly believe this developer owes you something? Tell me you don't take free samples in the grocery store then, if you enjoyed it, buy that product.3. What have you done to fulfill the need for a wonderfully supported VNC client? Please, provide a link to YOUR offerings so we can avail ourselves of YOUR VNC freeware.2. This VNC app has been invaluable for my needs and I would gladly sign up for a license to ensure its continued development. For these people who believe they are entitled to ad infinitum freeware:1. I hope the monies will be incentive for a possible iPhone VNC app too.(wishing out loud)I'm disgusted by the people posting their anger for having to actually pay for the fruits of this developer's labor. The question we each have to face is: Is active support and speed worth US$40?I've been impressed with the level of forward movement in the development curve of this fantastic software!! The developer(s) appears to have poured themselves into the solid release of JollysVNC and I look forward to helping fund further development by purchasing a license. Both work well enough I think to get TeamViewer started.Bottom line, JollyFastVNC is noticeably faster than cotvnc. It turns out there is a bug, but it's something else entirely. At least, that's how it looks here. All this time I thought SSH tunneling was broken (see my various posts here if you care). When you finally get off government funded welfare you can put your free cheese down and celebrate your good fortune by buying a license. In a nutshell - SSH tunneling does work after all, but the program seems to be doing something odd with caching screen sizes. Your IT guy gets a paycheck.so should the developers of the software you use.4. Need for speed pro street android downloadLooks like something odd is going on with how the screen size is being handled.Decided to check this out after seeing all of the hype. Somehow it was picking up my local resolution (1440x900) from somewhere (a previous connection to something else?), which was not correct for what it was connecting to at the moment.I'd like to say this is closed, but when I attempted to connect to a different VNC host (1400x1050) over the same tunnel, a similar scaling type of bug reappeared when the destination screen was set to "Actual Size", but strangely not when set to "Half Size" or "Double Size". All further connections to that computer have been correct ever since. However, the stretched screen of my destination computer was in the way, so I changed it to "half size" - and the aspect ratio and size were fixed! I changed it back to full size, and now it snapped to the correct size (1024x768). That way someone could complete basic setup of a connection without ever opening the drawer.- Remove all key commands in the program they will conflict with those in the VNC window for Mac clients. A few recommendations:- Move "Host Type", "Keyboard Layout", and "Connect" to the drawer - they're certainly not the primary settings, and likely don't need to be changed often.- Since the default values are so well set (very few programs do this well - bravo!), show the connection name, server address, and port in the columns. However, there's still a LOT to do on the interface. On my local LAN I can just about watch video over this. For the Transport Encoding Order, move "Use" column to the left side and remove the title (it's redundant) to match standard UI.
